'Shave the Day' [Medshave]
17 AUGUST 2010
UNSW Medical Students are bravely shedding their head hair and leg hair to raise money for the cancer council. They will be seeking generous support from the community, from friends and family to sponsor them.
We are also holding a 'crazy hair' stall in front of the UNSW Library, for $3, anybody can have their hair gelled, hair sprayed, glittered etc in support for the Cancer Council. Lastly, we will be selling Cancer Council merchandise at the stall including Dr Dougle, soccer balls etc.

Shave the Day
Cancer affects people all around us. People who may too easily sink into becoming statistics. We believe that every person with cancer or knows someone with cancer has a story to tell. They are our fathers, mothers, brothers, sisters. As Medical Students, they will be our patients in the future.
For many of us studying medicine; we do so in the belief that perhaps, we might use our talents in order to help alleviate the pain and suffering that disease and sickness brings to people. As students, we would be amiss if we did not use what resources we have, here and now to aid the cancer council in funding research and providing support for those affected by cancer.
We have found a variety of ways to express our support and raise money. Some of us are sacrificing our hair as many cancer patients may loose in the course of their treatment. Others are dying their hair outrageous blues and purples to bring a bit of attention to the cause. Still more are just happy to donate a bit of their time or money.
