My message
On March the 5th 2010 my brother, Jeremiah, passed away from brain and spinal cord cancer. He was only 8 years old. It was a terrible, terrible thing. Not only because I lost my precious, precious brother but also because brain and spinal cord cancer is the least researched and least understood of all cancers.
Here are some scary facts.
*In 30 years the outcome for a person diagnosed with brain or spinal cord cancer has not improved even 1%. *Within 6 moths of diagnosis 80% percent of people with brain or spinal cord cancer will be dead. *The death rate for high grade Glioma is almost 100%. My brother Jeremiah had a High Grade Glioma. *The rate of brain and spinal cord cancer diagnoses is increasing by 7% every year.
I am sure you would agree that something needs to change. I would like to think that one day other kids will not have to suffer and then die like my brother. I would also like to think that other families will not have to go through what my Mum and Dad and I go through every day since Jeremiah died.So I had an idea - I am going to shave off my hair during Brain Cancer Awarness Week (May 7 - 14th). I am asking you to sponsor me as I hope to raise $45,000 for New South Wales Cancer Council Brain Cancer Research Projects. I know that $45,000 is a lot of money but I have alot of hair! Iwant to make a difference and you can help me. The actual date that I will shave of my hair is the 15th of May at a big celebration and fundraiser my parents and friends are organizing called J Day.
